Protection of Interest in Aircraft Objects Rules of 2026 Notified

India enacted the Protection of Interests in Aircraft Objects Act, 2025 (CTC Act) to give statutory effect to the Cape Town Convention. Pursuant to this, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has notified the Protection of Interests in Aircraft Objects Rules, 2026 (CTC Rules) to operationalise the framework governing international interests in aircraft objects in India.

The CTC Rules require notification of international interests in respect of Indian registered aircraft to the DGCA in the prescribed Form I. For aircraft already registered and operating in India, such interests are required to be notified within six months from January 30, 2026. For future transactions, notification is required within 30 days of registration of the aircraft with the DGCA.
