Ajay Kumar

Ajay leads KLA with twenty years of experience advising on complex cross-border and domestic matters. His practice reflects deep sectoral focus, with particular strength in aviation, asset finance and regulatory advisory.

He has advised on a wide range of aircraft leasing and financing transactions, structured and asset-based arrangements, repossessions, bankruptcy and other aviation-related matters and disputes. He is regularly engaged on high-value and time-sensitive mandates and is extremely well regarded for his commercial judgment and measured approach.

As a Managing Partner, he remains closely involved in client engagements, providing strategic oversight and ensuring that the firm’s advice is practical, responsive and closely aligned with client objectives.

Ajay has been instrumental in shaping India’s aviation regulatory policies over the years and advises the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and the GIFT City authorities. 

He is ex-co-chair of the Aviation Law Committee at the International Bar Association and a member of the GIFT City Standing Committee on Aircraft Leasing and Financing. He also serves on the Legal Advisory Panel of AWG and is an active member of the India Contact Group of AWG.
